Koltsubishi Firearms' HG15-9BP
Koltsubishi Firearms, a small arms manufacturer based on Kaso (Lishun 0214),
offers its HG15-9BP, a 9mm semi-automatic body pistol. With the war pressing
onward, Koltsubishi saw a need for high caliber weapons. The HG15-9BP is its
latest offering in the handgun department. Realizing a need for a body pistol
that could, in the words of a company representative, "kill my target, not just
piss them off", the company set to designing a higher caliber weapon that would
not only be concealable but difficult to detect as well.
The 9BP is manufactured from light composites thus reducing its detectable
footprint. It will evade detection from most scanners. But since the weapon's
light weight is not enough to compensate for the added muzzle velocity, it is
hooked up to a gyroscopic compensator, thus eliminating most of the recoil.
This recoil dampening system adds half a kilo to the weight of the weapon.
Recognizing that a gyroscopic compensator isn't the most convenient accessory
when total concealment is required, or the user is responding to an emergency,
Koltsubishi developed an alternative: the HG15-9BP-F. This models swaps out the
more advanced composites for fiberglass. And a muzzle brake is used to dampen
the recoil. While the muzzle brake adds 4 cm to the length of the weapon and is
not as effective in recoil reduction, it does not negatively impact its
concealability or effectiveness. The 9BP-F utilizes the same ammunition and
magazine as the standard 9BP.
The 9BP is designed to utilize the ubiquitous straight 9 x 17.3 mm round
(historically known as the .380
ACP). While at lower tech levels this round was not as effective, the
advanced manufacturing capabilities available at TL-15 greatly improved the
round's effectiveness. A hollow pistol grip contains a 10-round magazine without
compromising on its concealability.
The 9BP and 9BP-F are far superior to the typical body pistol. The larger round
delivers greater penetration, demonstrates significant stopping power, and
doubles the range. While body pistols are intended to be short range, the added
range offers the user greater flexibility when using either weapon.
