1: Taksarrgh is listed in The Flaming Eye as
having an average temperature of 7.6°C, but its M5 V star doesn't put out
enough heat for that. I bumped up the star to keep the planet somewhat warm.
2: Newcastle is listed in The Flaming Eye as
having an average temperature of 23.8°C, but its M4 V star doesn't put out
enough heat for that. I bumped up the star to preserve the world's identity.
3: Kfoerudzo's primary was originally a M1 V. I didn't
want the world to be frigid (-45°C) so I bumped up the star to K6 V. Now it
has an average temp of 6.7°C.

Anarsi Subsector: The Anarsi Subsector has an estimated population in
1202 of approximately 372.2 million, a decline of 98% from its Pre-Collapse
population. Its highest population is 28.7 million at Sadniben, and its highest
tech level is 9 at Newcastle. The Anarsi Subsector had an estimated population
in 1117 of approximately 18.76 billion. Its highest population was 9.15 billion
at Anarsi, and its highest tech level was 16 at Gemid.
Newcastle (1801) was invaded in 1104 by a band of Vargr corsairs serving
the Church of the Chosen Ones. The Vargr easily overwhelmed the system's
low-tech defenses, and took over the system mainworld. The pirates stripped the
system of many of its resources before eventually dusting off and heading for
parts unknown. The power vaccuum was immediately filled by Vargr of the Ngath
Confederation who raided shipping from a clandestine base in the system's
Oort cloud in an unusual concentration of dark-ice asteroids. When Virus struck,
the Ngath cautiously observed the carnage from afar, sending intermittent
scouts to provide reconnaissance. One of the scouts was inadvertantly infected
by Virus and brought it to the corsair base. Fortunately for the Ngath, they
were able to firewall their systems before too much damage was done. After the
initial onslaught of Virus, the Ngath moved in and usurped the exhausted
Newcastilian government and made the system a mecca for coreward refugee Vargr.
While the marriage of human and Vargr cultures has not been an easy one,
Newcastle's very survival may have depended on the late arrival of the reluctant
Ngath rescuers. The united human-Vargr Newcastilian government has created a
low-tech, but sound system defense and made minor inroads into restoring
interstellar trade in the region.
Gemid (1903) was famous for its high-tech weaponry, especially
neurotoxins. When Virus struck, the system was stripped of most of its
industrial resources and most of the native inhabitants were killed using their
own technology. It is thought that the Gemidi weaponry was used by units of
Virus-infected robots to murder the populations of several neighboring systems.
Ngath corsairs managed to requisition several dozen TL-16 laser and particle
accelerator weapons, a fact that contributed to their ability to fend off Virus
at Newcastle system. Years of neglect and the inability to properly maintain
the weapons, however, has resulted in their gradual decline in effectiveness.
Daama (1904) was at one time a smuggler's paradise. Its non-aligned
status kept it free from Imperial restrictions, and its close proximity to
Gemid supplied it with a variety of black market goods. Daamans, in an effort
to make their world less delectable to roaming Vampire Fleets, methodically
destroyed all items of high technology. While the system's gas giant remains a
frequent stopover for Vampire ships, the mainworld is generally left alone.
Shabii (2408) was a warehouse planet for Makhidkarun. The planet's
mechanized storage units and landing areas for transport covered much of the
surface. A God-Strain Virus infected the planet's central data core, and
subsequently conquered the entire planet's data network. The Virus entity now
provides spare parts and mechanized labor to Vampire Fleet ships for a price,
usually human or robotic labor. Though it maintains a squadron of jump-capable
starships, which it has used to raid neighboring systems of additional parts
and equipment, the Virus is slowly running out of equipment and may soon
abandon the complex.
